Today Sarah Palin will energize the crowd. Her SarahPAC has put gifts of caribou jerky on each chair as a gift for the attendees. There is, of course, wild speculation that she will be running for President in 2012.
Straw Poll voting began today. Each delegate to the SRLC can choose their first and second choice for the Presidential ballot. The results of the straw poll will be announced Saturday evening.
Cross Section has a big announcement! Be watching for our interview with Haley Barbour. We are tentatively scheduled to have 15 minutes with the governor tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully his schedule won’t change at the last minute!
Sarah Palin just finished. (She didn’t use a teleprompter either.) She did say that there is nothing stopping the U.S. from energy independence that a good old fashioned election can’t fix!
Other speakers that we heard today were Rick Perry (Governor of Texas), Bobby Jindal (Governor of Louisiana), and Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council. The overwhelming message of every speaker was, get out there and take this country back in November 2010. The speakers as well as the crowds are passionate and highly motivated.
The hi-lite of the day was attending a live taping of the Sean Hannity show. Sean Hannity stood for about 2 hours signing books when he arrived, then hurried to do his show and then he had another signing before leaving so that everyone could get their book signed.
Tomorrow we find out the result of the straw poll. Also don’t forget to check in with us tomorrow on Saturday. We are going to be doing several interviews and it should be fun!
The ladies of the Cross Section would like to say a big thank you to Woody from Jackson, Mississippi who brought us soft drinks while we we stood for almost 2 hours waiting for the Hannity show to start so that we wouldn’t lose our spot; he and his wife and mother-in-law were so nice to us. Thanks y’all!
