Harry Reid let it slip today the actual amount that the health care bill known as the Baucus bill would cost the American people-2 Trillion Dollars. Not only that, but he explains why tort reform is not in the bill-he says that a savings of 54 Billion is really a small amount of money compared to the actual cost of health care reform.
I have two problems:
- The fact that in all other speeches, etc. Reid still sticks with the bogus cost of $829 Billion. The Cato Institute as well as others have said that the real cost would be closer to the 2 Trillion number-and when has a government program ever come in at the estimated cost? We could be talking multiple trillions of dollars.
- The fact that Harry Reid dismisses 54 Billion in actual savings as being too small to bother with. Too small? Is he that out of touch? YES.
Here’s the speech. Give it a listen: <object width=”425″ height=”349″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/fT3_1rPkjRI&border=1&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1%22%3E%3C/param%3E%3Cparam
